Refunds and Cancellations

STUDENT RESCHEDULE OR CANCELLATIONS

Because PFI  has the highest commitment to quality courses with small instructor to student ratios, we book our instructors in advance and are unable to issue refunds for cancellations on the course. However, we can issue a credit on account (with administration fees) if you need to reschedule your course date.  The fee schedule is  as follows:

  • More than 14 days notice: you can move to another course location and/or date with only a $75 administration fee. You can log into your account and cancel/change the course yourself.
  • Less than 14 days notice: you can move to another course location and/or date with an administration fee of 25% of the total course cost. You will need to contact your instructor to have this done.
  • 7 days notice: you can move to another course location and/or date with an administration fee of 50% of the total course cost. You will need to contact your instructor to have this done.
  • Less than 7 days notice or no notice: you may lose your full course payment. Please contact your instructor to have this done.

If you are registered for a course that requires additional fees (such as hotel and travel for the Catalina trips for the Malibu and Newport Beach locations) and we are not given at least 2 weeks notice of change, then such fees may be deducted from your course deposit as well as any change fee.

Your credit will be with the instructor or company through which your original course was booked. For example, if the course is with PFI that credit would be for any PFI courses you see listed on the schedule. If your original course was with Evolve, then your credit is towards any future Evolve courses. Please deal directly with the instructor or company to make arrangements.

PFI CANCELLATIONS

We will do everything possible to avoid having to cancel or postpone our courses. There are a few times when this will be unavoidable.

Weather postponements: If a course date needs to be cancelled or postponed due to poor weather, we will substitute pool sessions for the ocean sessions and you will be given the option to finish any missing course segments at another date for only $25/day plus boat fees.

Cancellations beyond PFI’s control such as if a pool, boat, or open water site has to cancel for reasons specific to them, we will substitute pool sessions for the ocean sessions and you will be given the option to finish any missing course segments at another date for only $25/day plus boat fees if applicable.

If you need to finish missing course segments for reasons other than weather cancellations, you can do so for $75/day during a future course date.

Insufficient attendance: PFI reserves the right to cancel any course date if there are less than 6 students registered. If this happens, PFI will give no less than 2 weeks notice of the change. We will do our best to help anyone inconvenienced by the change. This has only occurred a couple of times since we began running classes in 2000.

PRIVATE COURSE CANCELLATIONS

Due to the fact that PFI will have booked those specific dates for your private group, there are no refunds or credits. If you need to change/cancel the course and we are able to fill the date, then we will move the deposit or full payment to another date (minus a change fee as per the above schedule). If we are not able to fill that date, then there will be no credit. The same applies to members of your group needing to cancel/change. You are still responsible for filling and providing PFI with payment for all spots. Any credits from previous cancellations, etc. may not be used to pay for a private PFI course.

Deja Blue and Other Trips and Events

All payments are non-refundable and no credit will be issued for cancellations to Deja Blue, trips or other special events.

REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT DETAILS

To secure your spot in a course, we need to receive both your registration and either a 50% deposit or full payment. Any outstanding course balance is due one week prior to the start of the course.
