A native of Venezuela, Ricardo has always had a great love for the ocean. As a kid he spearfished and snorkeled off the islands of Venezuela, and at 13 he got his PADI Scuba license. After college in Florida he joined the US Peace Corps and went to the Kingdom of Tonga as a Fisheries Extension Officer. Over the years his career shifted to directing strategy planning and business development efforts at major media and technology companies dealing with Latin America, but he continues his efforts to support ocean conservation assisting his wife, UM Professor Dr. Claire Paris, in her underwater research.
The PFI experience has been very rewarding, strengthening a desire to share the wonders of the ocean and freediving. Ricardo is a PADI Scuba and PFI Freediver Instructor teaching classes in English and Spanish in Miami.
