What Gear Do I need to bring?
- In every class each student is required to come prepared with the proper diving gear. By reading the manual before class and completing the pre learning, a student will understand exactly what specific equipment is needed for each course. There is also a list of specific gear requirements under the specific course pages.
- A good base set of dive gear to always have on hand is, a good fitting wetsuit, this means it is the appropriate size and thickness for the temperature of water, as well as not having any large holes or tears to let water flow in and out. Freediving, long fins. low volume freediving mask, a weight belt with a quick release handle, weights preferably in1-2 pound increments. Widebore snorkel, timing device as well as a towel and water.
What skills do I need to pass and graduate?
- Performance Freediving International has a different skill standards for each course. You can find what set of skills is needed to graduate a specific course by clicking on the desired course. This is found by clicking here or in the in the Course Info tab at the top of the page. Looking over the skills and requirements one can see the number at which the class will complete static breath holds to, the maximum depth the class goes, as well as the safety standards and other requirements such as gear and materials.
If the weather is bad and/or the open water dives are canceled how do I complete my course?
- There are times when weather is not in our favor. When a dive or dives are canceled due to weather or other circumstances out of PFI instructor control we try our best to accommodate the needs of all the divers. We offer the option to pay 25 dollars in order to hold a dive spot in upcoming class (as the numbers permit). When the availability is open you are welcome to pay the 25 dollars,a and join for any makeup dives you need in order to complete your certifications.
