PFI HQ Staff Update
We're excited to announce two new additions to our PFI Staff. Chris Bustad has officially come aboard as a full-time Staff Instructor with multiple ratings and John Hullverson has joined the PFI Executive team as Director of Operations, General Counsel and Staff Instructor.
We're excited that they've come aboard and many of the improvements you've seen and will soon see have their fingerprints on them!
Chris Bustad has always been in and around the water. He was a US Coast Guard Cutter Rescue Swimmer, he was SCUBA certified in 2004, he’s had several years’ experience as a Divemaster, and also as a ADC certified commercial diver, graduating top of his class from the Diver’s Institute of Technology in Seattle.
Chris started freediving in 2008, and took his first class with PFI in 2012. From there he was hooked, and he became a Freediving Instructor in 2013. Since then, Chris has acted as a Safety Supervisor for Deja Blues 5, 6, and soon to be 7. Chris founded his own freedive instruction company and taught classes in his home state of Washington. In May 2014, he began assisting with PFI courses, and started leading them in July 2014.
Chris, who now holds the Instructor Trainer rating, has been deeply involved teaching Intermediate and BHSS courses and he’s been very busy lately helping to update the Standards and Procedures for many courses. This past winter, Chris began working with Canadian Hubert Chretien (another PFI instructor and Handicapped Scuba Association Course Director Trainer to develop PFI’s Adaptive Freediver Program for people with disabilities, which will debut at DB007 this year with a three day Adaptive Freediver Instructor course running April 20-23.
Welcome Chris and thanks for all your hard work!
