Day 10 - Finally, a day of rest ... for some!

Today we finally have our first real day of rest, except that Mandy and Doc are going to do some easy static training. Martin and I have been in the water ten days straight so we'll let the gills dry out a bit. But Doc and Mandy, especially Mandy, want to do a little static practice.

We've never had such a good static session as at the Hyatt Regency where Doc's staying and enjoying the pool side. Only thing we need is to do the statics near the pool bar :>) Mandy gets part way through hers and comes up at 4:45. It's 'that time' and some cramps are causing her discomfort in static that she doesn't ever feel in constant. No problems, lots of time to train up yet.

Doc on the other hand, beats his own personal best of 2:00 by pulling off a 3:15 static. We're all really excited for him as he's really progressing well and only a third of the time into our water days. What will he pull off next?

After static we lunch around the pool and then decide to head off to Rum Point and sightsee, laze around under the palm trees and chill out. Rum Point's a great location. A 30 minute drive later we are (or some of us) enjoying their world famous Mud Slides, conch fritters, and nearby iguanas. We're lazing in the hammocks taking in the scenic beauty that Rum Point is well known for.

We head off around 4:30pm to try and make the 5 o'clock light so Tony can film some interviews of Mandy and Martin about their latest training days.

In the evening we all enjoy our own time apart. Doc stays at the Hyatt. Martin and Tony eat at the condo while Tony organizes video and photos (not all of us get a day off:>) And Mandy and I go out for a nice dinner together.

Tomorrow Mandy works constant to 66m, Martin constant to 92m and Doc free immersion to 34m.

Freediving or breath-hold diving is a type of advanced snorkeling and water adventure that allows us to experience the sights, sounds and challenges of the most natural of underwater experiences.

Human evolution and development has ingrained us with an underwater potential the same as our marine cousins, whales, seals and dolphins.

Without the use of underwater breathing apparatus, freedivers on a single breath of air can explore the underwater realm for minutes at a time with relative comfort.

Freediving is about the comfort and exploration of the ocean realm for recreation, spearfishing, competition or personal discovery.

For over 7 years, Performance Freediving has helped enthusiastic men, women and youth to explore the underwater world with expert training, support and products from the world's top freedivers.

PFI is North America's longest running Freediving training agency having taught over 2300 students to dive deeper, longer, and safer. Let us show you how!
