Pool Sessions
We will be using one of two pool locations in the area.
- The Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex at 501 Seabreeze Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316
- Pompano Beach Aquatic Center at 820 NE 18th Avenue, Pompano Beach, FL
Open Water Sessions
We will be using Sea Experience for both of the ocean sessions. The cost of the boat is about $60/day as is paid directly to the boat right before boarding.

Equipment Requirements
For the Basic Freediver course you can make do with wearing the same gear you use for snorkeling or scuba. If possible, having gear that is made specifically for Freediving will help with your overall performance and better your overall experience. Below are items that you need for the course with some freediving specific suggestions.
- Mask, fins and snorkel – Preferably low volume mask and long blade fins.
- Wetsuit – 3mm wetsuit suit is required for pool and ocean sessions. A good freediving suit with attached hood is recommended but you can get away with surf/scuba wetsuits. If your hood is not attached please bring a separate one.
- Weights and weight belt - Best choice is a rubber weight belt with an assortment of smaller weights to adjust for proper buoyancy.
- Depth and/or timing device – A waterproof watch at the very least, better yet a freediving computer is perfect.
Facility that sell Freediving Gear:
Both ProDive, and Lauderdale Diver have a full selection of Freediving/Spearfishing gear for purchase. Other options in the local area include Austin’s Dive Center in Miami. Check out general gear recommendations.
Accommodations nearby
There are many hotels in the area. You can do a search for the classroom address on sites like www.hotels.com or www.expedia.com and see many choices.
A nice hotel nearby is The Marriott hotel. Next to Lauderdale Diver there is the Extended Stay hotel that is a good price and has small kitchens. Bahia Mar is another hotel near the boat we use. If you call Sea Experience at 954-770-DIVE, they sometimes have good deals with Bahia Mar.
Clinic Schedule
The following schedule is subject to change. The course starts right on time each day. Please arrive ready to start class. Full course payment is due at this time.
Day 1- Friday evening
6:30pm-9:30pm: Classroom
Day 2- Saturday
8:00am – 10:00am: Classroom and Equalizing Practice
11:00pm – 1:00pm: Pool session
2:00pm – 5:00pm: Boat session
Day 3- Sunday
8:00am – 12:00am: Pool session
12:00am – 1:00pm: Classroom
2:00pm – 5:00pm: Boat session
Note: We require a minimum of 2 students to run this basic course. The boat requires a minimum of 4 to run, so if less than 4 people sign up for the boat the fee may be higher than $55/person.
